Multihulls World magazine’s Sail Buyer’s Guide for 2023 has been released.

The Sail Buyer’s Guide reviews the RAPIDO 40. See below.

The Triac Composites’ shipyard and the enormous experience of its team produces a wonderful range of high performance trimarans from 40 to 60 feet out of its base at Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), in Vietnam.

The manufacturer has unveiled its latest “little” boat, the Rapido 40.

Trick of the Light – that’s its name – has shown good average speeds right from its first sail.

This model comes with C foils and a carbon rig as standard (the original article incorrectly states that the racer version “can be boosted” with these items but they are standard).

While the central hull has a very narrow beam at the waterline, reasonable volume is nevertheless ensured inside, thanks to a marked chine.

The floats are particularly voluminous, obviously guaranteeing good strength. And when you go alongside in port, they fold vertically (not “backwards” as stated in the original article): the beam is reduced from 28′ 10″ (8.80m) at sea down to 17’1″ (5.2m).

  • Builder: Rapido Trimarans / Triac Composites
  • Architect: Morrelli & Melvin
  • Material: composite (carbon fibre)
  • Length: 39′ 4″ (12m)
  • Beam: 17′ 1″ / 28′ 10″ (5.2m / 8.8m)
  • Draft: 22′ / 4’7″
  • Displacement: 10,600lbs (4.8t)
  • Mainsail: 700 sq ft (65m2)
  • Solent: 345 sq ft (32m2)
