Congratulations to Vincent Willemart, Michel Kleinjans, and their crew aboard Adamas (Rapido 40 Hull #02) for an exceptional performance in last month’s Myth of Malham, the renowned offshore yacht race organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC).

Sailing the standard cruising version of the Rapido 40 – with a standard, cruising rig – Adamas not only claimed Multihull Line Honours and 1st place under MOCRA (Multihull Offshore Cruising and Racing Association), but also finished an impressive 3rd overall out of approximately 140 yachts.

The only two boats to finish ahead of Adamas were dedicated monohull race machines:

  • Ker 46 – 1d 5h 4m
  • Ker 43 – 1d 6h 26m

Adamas followed closely behind, completing the 235-nautical mile course in 1d 7h 29m – just an hour off the pace of the top two.

In the Multihull class, Adamas finished well ahead of the next fastest competitors:

  • Dazcat 1295 – 1d 16h 24m
  • Excess 14 – 2d 10h 17m

Of the six multihull entries, only three finished the race. The Shuttleworth 34, a second Dazcat 1295 and a Dragonfly 40 all retired. This further highlights Adamas’ remarkable combination of speed, seaworthiness, and reliability.

Reflecting on the result, Vincent noted:

“We are still learning to unlock Adamas’s full potential. Headwind performance is solid, and we’re tuning the C-foils for better reaching and downwind speed.”

Rapido 40 Adamas won the Multihull Class of the 2025 Myth of Malham.
Rapido 40 Adamas won the Multihull Class of the 2025 Myth of Malham.

First raced in 1958, the Myth of Malham is a prestigious offshore challenge starting from the Isle of Wight (UK), rounding the iconic Eddystone Lighthouse, and returning to the Solent. This year’s edition drew 140 yachts, carrying over 900 sailors from 28 nations—a testament to the race’s international appeal and competitive stature.

Adamas will next compete in the Round the Island Race, followed by the iconic Rolex Fastnet Race, and most likely the ARC transatlantic rally to the Caribbean in November.

  • Meanwhile, Rapido is preparing to launch the Rapido 40 RACER, a lightweight, performance-optimized version of the trimaran which has a weight of just 4.5 tonnes. Stay tuned for more updates.
