Rapido Trimarans has commenced construction of their new class racing, high performance trimaran, the Rapido 40 RACER. The mast is 2m taller than the standard.
While there are monohull race boats in this size range, this trimaran fills a void in the market. Rapido co founder Paul Koch says that the Rapido 40R “really offers multihull racing enthusiasts a high-tech, affordable, alternative”.
This racing version will be finished with paint instead of gelcoat to save weight. It also comes equipped with:
- Prepreg carbon spreader-less performance rig
- C foil dagger boards
- B&G electronics
- North Sails’ 3Di race package
- New slide up/ down, kick-up T foil rudder blade; and
- Low-profile coach roof.
This model will appeal to both syndicates and individual owners and, as it meets CE A requirements, it will be able to compete in ocean races.
The Rapido 40R will be folding so that shipping, marinas and hard stands are less.

Rapido at Cannes Yachting Festival, France: 10-15 September 2024
Rapido will be at the Cannes Yachting Festival in France from 10-15 September 2024 with the Rapido 53XS #01, Picomole. In April, Picomole sailed from Vietnam to Greece via the Red Sea(!) on its maiden voyage. In July, it competed in the Aegean 600!
