[UPDATED…]

The original Rapido 60 Power Trimaran has been sold – but if you’re looking for a power trimaran with the performance, space and efficiency of the Rapido 60 platform, we can build another.

This unique power trimaran was developed using the hulls, beams and floats of the Rapido 60, designed and engineered by world-leading multihull designers Morrelli & Melvin.

The original boat demonstrated what is possible when the Rapido 60 platform is combined with a simple, efficient powerboat configuration – no mast, no rig and significantly less weight, while retaining the exceptional stability, space and seaworthiness of a trimaran.

And the good news is that we can build another!

Whether you’re looking for a private live-aboard, an economical ocean cruiser, a luxury power trimaran, a charter vessel or a specialist platform, the Rapido 60 Power Tri can be configured around your requirements.

What could a Rapido 60 Power Tri be used for?

  • Private live-aboard
  • Economical ocean cruiser, with a simple or luxury finish
  • Day charter or commercial operation
  • Dive boat – see the detailed dive-boat specifications and drawings
  • Expedition or adventure vessel
  • Custom platform for specialist applications

There are many possibilities. The layout, accommodation, systems, propulsion and finish can all be discussed and developed around the intended use.

Rapido 60 Power Trimaran specifications

The original power trimaran was based on the following configuration:

  • Length: 18.1m
  • Beam: 11.7m
  • Draft: 0.75m
  • Displacement: 9,000kg light / 14,000kg heavy
  • Engine: 240hp Yanmar (Steve Bourne ownsed a sailing version of the Rapido 60 (Ineffable). Upon learning of the 240hp Yanmar on the Power Tri, Steve wrote: “With my 53hp Yanmar, I get 10 knots on Ineffable. It’s gotta be 20+ knots on the power tri with 245hp – and very economical. No rig. Less weight. Yee-ha!”)
  • Gearbox: 4LHA-STP WKMH50A
  • Shaft: 1¾” with dripless seal
  • Propeller: 24″, 4-blade
  • Alternator: Battery charging
  • Bow thruster: Side-Power retractable SE100
  • Diesel: 860L total capacity
  • Freshwater: 400L

These specifications describe the original power-trimaran configuration and provide a useful starting point (also see the original Rapido 60 Power Tri brochure). A new build can be discussed and specified according to the owner’s requirements.

Designed around the Rapido 60 platform

The Rapido 60 was designed and engineered by Morrelli & Melvin, one of the world’s leading multihull design teams.

The Power Tri uses the same fundamental hull, beam and float platform, giving a new build the benefit of a proven high-performance trimaran design while allowing the interior and systems to be developed specifically for power operation.
