Romanza is an official entrant in this year’s PIC Coastal Classic Yacht Race 2020 in New Zealand which commences this coming Friday, 23 October 2020 at 10am (GMT +13).

Romanza’s Dougall Love says that the Coastal Classic is “the one big one of the year here for most boats – 120 miler from Auckland up the coast to (Russell in) the Bay of Islands” (click on map to enlarge).

The Coastal Classic’s official website describes the race as being “a sprint for the fastest boats who can finish in less than six hours, or a challenging marathon for the crews on boats that take more than 24 hours to reach Russell”.

Last year, out of 176 starters, Romanza was 5th over the line.

Dougall says that, “with this year looking upwind with 10-15 knots, I’d like to think we can improve on last year’s performance”.

With some recent form behind Romanza which includes July’s Yates Cup victory (see video below), Dougall explains that, “We’re in good shape and raring to go! We have a crew of regulars who know the boat and have been onboard for our previous longer races, so should be OK.”

We can’t wait to see how Romanza goes as well. Good luck to Dougall and crew!

Welcome to the race Romanza!
