The 2026 Australian Multihull Championships have concluded in Geelong, Victoria, with a commanding performance from the Rapido 50, Hull #02, Triballistic.
Sailed by Ian Holten and crew, Triballistic delivered an exceptional eight-race series as part of the prestigious Festival of Sails at the Royal Geelong Yacht Club.
According to Sail-World, results across both divisions were decided in the final race. In Division 1, Triballistic secured:
- 1st – Expanded Handicap Class (EHC)
- 1st – Offshore Multihull Rule (OMR)
- Line Honours
To win both handicap divisions while also taking Line Honours is a comprehensive result —which demonstrates not only outright speed, but balance, control and consistency across the entire series.

Breakdown of Triballistic’s Regatta
Across the eight-race series, Triballistic delivered a masterclass in consistency and control. After a solid opening result, she secured five consecutive race wins and never finished worse than second in any race.
With one discard applied, her series total of 8.5 points placed her comfortably ahead of the fleet.
This was not a victory built on a single standout result, but on sustained pace, tactical discipline and reliability throughout the regatta; a commanding performance from start to finish.

Rapido 50’s Proven Performance
The Rapido 50 is no stranger to recognition. In 2022, she was named Multihull of the Year, recognising the platform’s unique ability to combine genuine offshore cruising capability with race-winning performance.
At Geelong, Triballistic reinforced that reputation.
Across varied conditions, the boat demonstrated:
- Rapid acceleration and sustained high averages
- Efficient upwind and downwind performance
- Offshore structural integrity
- Competitive strength both boat-for-boat and under handicap
Winning under OMR confirms measured performance against the fleet. Securing EHC highlights versatility. Taking Line Honours underscores outright pace.
Offshore Capability Meets Competitive Edge
The Australian Multihull Championships attract some of the region’s most competitive offshore multihulls. To emerge on top across scoring divisions is a significant achievement and further validation of the Rapido 50’s all-round credentials.
Congratulations to Ian Holten and the entire Triballistic crew on a superb campaign.
We also extend our thanks to the Royal Geelong Yacht Club and Festival of Sails organisers for delivering a highly competitive regatta.
